This Sunday is Father’s Day! Plus we have festivals, fireworks, the Phillie Phanatic, female golf and food. There is also baseball recycling, water slides, and a new exhibit opening at the museum. Plenty to keep everyone busy this weekend.

    The Official LPGA Tour event featuring 144 of the top female golfers in the world returns to Blythefield Country Club again this weekend (Father’s get in free on Sunday!). Also, as part of the fun, The Grand Taste – known as the best food experience on any tour – will return to this year’s tournament week lineup. The upgraded ticket will include food and beverage samples from participating local restaurants, breweries and Meijer vendors.

    The West Michigan Chalk Art Festival returns to Tanger Outlets in Byron Township this weekend! The festival includes a competition, but there are options for kids too. Kids 11 and under can participate in a free chalk event on Saturday, June 16, from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Chalk will be provided. Everyone is invited to participate in the festival and compete for up to $1,000. Space is limited.

    The West Michigan Whitecaps take on the Dayton Dragons this weekend. On Friday, the number 1 entertainer in all of baseball, the Phillie Phanatic, will be in attendance and will be sure to make you laugh, cry, dance, and sing the entire night. It will also be Polish Heritage Night. On Saturday, it is Musical Night. The Greatest Showman, Grease, Wicked, and many more musicals will take center stage tonight. If you love musicals, this night is for you. There will also be fireworks after the game on Saturday. On Sunday, it will be Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Family Day. The first 1,000 kids eat free! Fans can get autographs and play catch on the field before the game from 1:15-1:30 pm. Kids Run the Bases after the game presented by Milk Means More. Plus, there will be a 1998 Replica Championship Ring Giveaway for the first 1,000 fans through the gate. In honor of the 25th season, 6 championship rings will be given away over the course of the season.

    Are you looking for a fun way to give back to your community with dad? Do you have an interest in technology or protecting the environment? Comprenew is inviting families to come dismantle electronics for recycling and learn more about the hazards of e-waste. Each shift will begin with a short educational segment about the hazards of electronic waste and the importance of recycling. The rest of the time will be a hands-on experience dismantling desktop computers and other electronic devices. There will also be 3 drawings for $50 Comprenew gift cards during the morning and afternoon shifts! Gift cards can be used to purchase refurbished electronics at any of our 3 retail locations.     Be the Astronaut teaches about the concepts, challenges and excitement of spaceflight, through the use of touch-screen stations, artifacts and interactive simulator pods built to look like space capsules. The experience is scientifically verified by experts at NASA for accuracy and feasibility.

    Saturday Slip and Slide

    There will be four 150-foot-long water slides set up on the hill. Participants must sign a waiver and pay $1 to get a wristband for unlimited sliding and activities. Other activities include a toddler water park, bounce houses, dunk tanks, clowns, balloons, human foosball, foam pit and more. Money raised will go to support Kids Hope USA. Additional parking and a shuttle to Rosewood Park will be available at Fair Haven Ministries.
