    Fred & Dorothy Fichter Butterflies Are Blooming

    The annual Fred & Dorothy Fichter Butterflies Are Blooming exhibition at Meijer Gardens is the largest temporary tropical butterfly exhibition in the nation. Tropical butterflies from around the world fly freely in the Lena Meijer Tropical Conservatory every March and April. Throughout the exhibition, there is special educational programming and the Lena Meijer Children’s Garden offers butterfly-themed activities.

    Spend Spring Break at the GRPM! From March 29 through April 7, come face to face with dinosaurs in Expedition: Dinosaur, rekindle and create memories in the TOYS! exhibit and create with special spring break hands-on activities! Make dinosaur and toys inspired crafts including making your own dinosaur, sock monkey headbands, and dinosaur fossils, play over-sized games including Chess and Connect Four, and more! Join the GRPM on Saturday, March 30 and Saturday, April 6 for special dinosaur science in the Saturday Curiosity Labs. The Roger B. Chaffee Planetarium will be adding additional shows and show times special for Spring Break. See stunning shows daily on the hour from 11 am to 6 pm April 1 through 6, including From Earth to the Universe and Dark Side: The Light Show. The Museum will be open late Monday, April 1 through Saturday, April 6, until 7 pm!

    The Grand Rapids Griffins take on the Chicago Wolves on Friday at the Van Andel Arena. There will be $2 beers and $2 hot dogs! On Sunday, you can bring your dog to the hockey game. It is the Jake Engel Memorial Dog Game, presented by Nestle Purina. There will also be a specialty jersey auction.

    Model Train Open House

    Come be the engineer of a model train on the Pere Marquette Railroad. The Grand Rapids Model Railroad Historical Society was established for the purpose of promoting and preserving the hobby of model railroading, the history of railroads and railroading in the Grand Rapids area and providing a forum for the exchange of information about railroads in general. It is a goal of the Society to construct an operating scale model railroad "layout" to illustrate the history of the area railroads in a three dimensional form. This layout has been designed to represent the Pere Marquette Railroad, circa 1945, as it existed between Grand Rapids and Bay View, Michigan (known as the Petoskey Sub Division). Baldwin and Ludington, Michigan (known as the Ludington Sub Division) and Plymouth, Michigan and Chicago, Illinois. You’re also invited to visit the Grand Rapids Model Railroad Historical Society train layout at their facility in Dwight Lydell Park from 11 am-4 pm
