This weekend we have beer, green eggs and ham, pretzels, reptiles, single people, hockey, running and walking, concerts and everything you need for the home and garden. Whew! That’s a lot of choices!!

Butterflies Are Blooming

The annual Fred & Dorothy Fichter Butterflies Are Blooming exhibition at Meijer Gardens is the largest temporary tropical butterfly exhibition in the nation. Tropical butterflies from around the world fly freely in the Tropical Conservatory in March and April. Throughout the exhibition, there is special educational programming and the Lena Meijer Children’s Garden offers butterfly-themed activities.

After a week delay due to flooding, the 2018 Winter Beer Festival will feature more than 140 Michigan breweries and brewpubs. There will be samples from over 1000 different craft beers. Guests will also enjoy fine music from local bands, other entertainment, ice sculpture demonstrations, and fire pits to warm up by. A selection of tasty food will be available for purchase at the festival.

On Friday, it’s the Seventh Annual Purple Community Game presented by Van Andel Institute. There will be a Van Andel Institute purple jersey auction after the game. And because it’s a Friday night, there will be $2 beers and $2 hot dogs. On Saturday, it will be Star Wars Night presented by DTE Energy. There will also be a Huntington Bank post-game autograph session.
