There are several fundraising events going on this weekend...from rappelling down the side of a building to walks and block parties. You can go back in time to the 80s or 90s, We have comedy, theater, Red Panda Day, the Symphony and a festival for Vegetarianism.

Some activities include the kids, while others are more for the adults.

    Urban Rappelling for a cause! Over The Edge is a premier event for Easterseals Michigan exclusive to Grand Rapids. Everyone who raises $1,500 will go Over The Edge of Bridgewater Place. This is their 4th annual event, but a first at Bridgewater. Experience the beautiful view of Grand Rapids, as you rappel over the building, and down to the ground, 270 feet, with the backdrop of our beautiful city! WFGR’s Scott Winters will be rappelling on Friday afternoon in the 5 pm hour. Read more about it here.

    This year, six organic parks will arrive in Grand Rapids! Midwest Grows Green and partners will share how we manage these parks with no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers during this fun weekend packed with sustainable landscaping demonstrations. On Friday, it is a Grand Rapids Organic Parks Lunch & Learn: Tour the organic Heartside Park to learn from MGG and partners how they manage the fields with no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. The luncheon will be held at the Grand Rapids Public Service Department at 201 Market Ave SW, Room 240. On Saturday, Celebrate East Grand Rapids Going Organic: Stonyfield is proud to work with the City of East Grand Rapids to enhance the quality of fields at John Collins Park (650 Lakeside Dr., SE) by offering financial assistance and education for an organic maintenance program free from the use of harmful pesticides. Join Stonyfield, MGG and other local organizations at John Collins to celebrate!

An ensemble of 8 introduces a singing, dancing nod to the Man in black including, "I Walk The Line", "A Boy Named Sue", "Folsom Prison Blues" and of course, the tune that inspired the title of this musical portrait, "Ring of Fire."     Step Up for Down Syndrome

    Step Up for Down Syndrome is a family-friendly event open to all children and adults with Down syndrome, their families, friends, and thousands of local supporters. As a direct result of event sponsorships, team fundraising, and generous public donations, the Down Syndrome Association of West Michigan is able to continue providing educational resources, informational programs, parent support networks, financial assistance, and social events for individuals with Down syndrome. This year, they are returning to Fifth Third Ballpark and will be turning it up to 11 with their theme "Rockin' an Extra Chromosome." The celebration will include live music, games and prizes, mingling with the Whitecaps' mascots, and a walk around the ball field!

    International Red Panda Day

    Celebrate red pandas, and learn cool facts about these amazing animals. Visit everyone's favorite Red Pandas - Wasabi and Wyatt! There will be games and activities, conservation information, and more! Later that evening, from 6-8 pm it will be Symphony on the West Side. The family-friendly community concert is Free! Enjoy pre-concert music from Kathy LaMar and activities for kids before they take the stage with music from Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, Copland, Gershwin and more!     Proceeds from the 5th Annual West Side Walk benefit the free cancer and grief programming offered by Gilda's Club Grand Rapids. There will be a block party after the walk.
