In order to promote a healthier workforce, U-Haul announced they will no longer hire nicotine users in 21 states, including Michigan.

It'll go into effect on February 1, 2020. Iowa is the only other midwest state under this new policy. Other states include Alaska, Hawaii, Washington and Arizona (the company's HQ).

This will not change the employment status of those who were already with U-Haul prior to.

In a press release from the company,

This policy furthers the progression of U-Haul to establish one of the healthiest corporate cultures in the U.S. and Canada.

In addition, employees are a part of the "Healthier You" program which offer a variety of health  benefits such as reimbursement on gym and personal training, farmers markets, and professional confidential counseling.
