A Kent County man has been found guilty in the murder of a woman from Kalamazoo County.

31-year-old Ashley Young was reported missing on November 29, 2018. Her torso was discovered in an apartment building in Grand Rapids on December 2, 2018 was later identified as that of Young.

29-year old Jared Chance (who lived in the building where her body was discovered) was later charged with killing her.

Ashley Young's hands, feet, and head have still not been found.

The case was turned over to jurors around 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 13 following closing arguments. Around 3:10 p.m., the judge delivered the verdict - stating that the jury had found Chance guilty on all counts.

Chance was charged with second-degree murder, mutilation of a dead body, concealing death and three counts of tampering with evidence in the death of 31-year-old Ashley Young.

Chance’s parents, Barbara and James Chance, are facing charges for allegedly helping their son cover up the murder. A saw believed to be used in dismembering her body was found in the parents' home. 

Chance has been convicted of second degree murder as well as multiple counts of mutilating a dead body and tampering with evidence.

He will be sentenced Oct. 10.
