Even days after the shocking conclusion of the 2024 Thanksgiving Day football game with the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions, fans are still digesting the bizarre ending.

Quickly recapping: The Chicago Bears muscled back through the second half of the game and were driving with a chance to win or at least tie the game with a field goal. As the seconds wound down in the final minute of play, the Bears, after giving up a quarterback sack had what appeared to be a legitimate chance at least a tying field goal with just over 30 seconds to play and a time out to use.

There was confusion among the players and coaches and time was nearly allowed to expire wasting the time out and scrambling for a desperation final play.

How the Bears-Lions Thanksgiving Game Ending Sounded on TV

Many fans likely watched the game on CBS and are familiar with how that crew of Jim Nantz and Tony Romo called the ending.

As the game clock rolls back 9...8...7... Nantz implores the offense "you better hurry." When the snap comes at 6 both booth announcers recognize the trouble that's coming. Romo keeps saying simple "No. No." while Nantz calls it a "disaster in the making" and concludes with a firm, "Incomplete and the game is over. Completely botched by the Bears."

Detroit Lions Radio Call of the Ending of Thanksgiving 2024 Game

Dan Miller has the call for the Lions Radio Network. After watching the home team nearly squander a solid lead throughout the second half, they knew the Lions has plenty of hope on the game's final drive.

Here's how the final play sounded from the Lions broadcast booth:

Incomplete. That's It. That's It. That's It. What in the world were the Bears thinking? This game is over.

How the Bears Radio Crew Called the Ending of the Thanksgiving Day Clock Debacle

It's a venerable crew of Jeff Joniak and Tom Thayer who had the call.

The dejected and shellshocked announcers call it:

That's it. No flags and the ballgame is over. Everyone is standing around in stunned disbelief on both sides. Nobody's celebrating....Something happened down the stretch here. It did not make sense.

It's been well documented that this ending was a final straw that cost the Bears' head coach his job. Largely lost in the Bears miscues is the win kept alive a historic winning streak by the Lions.
