Butterball announced on Wednesday that they are recalling 39 tons of their ground turkey because of a potential salmonella contamination.

After 4 people in Wisconsin and one in Minnesota reported getting sick, the company tested their product and found traces of the bacteria. The recall affects eight different types of the ground turkey including 16 oz and 48 oz packages. All have a "sell by" or "use by" date of July 26, 2018. Because the turkey was packaged last year, it's very unlikely that it's currently in stores, however, people may have it in their freezer.

Salmonella is one of the most common food borne illnesses and can cause the following symptoms: diarrhea, stomach pains, and fever.
