What's the real answer? It's a bog, swamp or marshland. Those who have ventured around say it's squishy muck. From Duncan Lake Road which runs along the marshland, it's impenetrable appearing forest.

It’s a wetland/marsh, fed by an underground spring. That spring then fed a stream that connected to a marsh further south just above 108th Street, and emptied into Duncan Lake.  The 1870 Kent County township maps show this.
