Drivers in the southern Michigan village of Cassopolis may have to deal with one of Michigan's most dangerous railroad crossings. The danger comes not from any trains as they pass safely overhead.

Rather, the danger is from other drivers navigating the tight, narrow underpass along Park Shore Avenue.

This railroad underpass is in a tucked away neighborhood in Cassopolis, the seat of Cass County near the Indiana state line.

The underpass carries just a 10 foot clearance for drivers passing underneath. Further the roadway narrows to a single lane and the short tunnel is fully blind due to a curve denying

You can see just how tight things are when approaching from the west:

Drivers are required to honk their horns when passing underneath. The warning signs approaching the underpass alert you to the 10 feet of clearance, that there is just a single lane for traffic and a notice to "Sound Horn Before Entering."

There are a few other odd narrow, curvy railroad underpasses in Michigan. Likely the best known and most trafficked road is on Michigan Avenue between Jackson and Grass Lake. With the amount of graffiti at this underpass, it almost gives the vibe of being the setting of a horror movie.
