Detroit Lions fans suffered along with their team as the NFC North champions and #1 playoff seed were eliminated from the post season.

While much will come of postgame could-have-beens, the playoffs will roll on without the Lions. So for Michigan fans, is there a bandwagon they should hop on? We'll make the case for some of the remaining teams.

The Case for Lions Fans to Cheer the Buffalo Bills

This may be the most obvious choice for Lions fans to look for a welcome bandwagon. The team has a similar hard luck background. While the Bills did once make 4 straight Super Bowls, they lost every one. They went through a nearly 20 season playoff drought from the last 1990s through early 2000s.

There's a geographic connection as Detroit and Buffalo are on opposite ends of Lake Erie and historic connections between the franchises as well.

Add on a similar vibe between the cities and fan bases, and it's not difficult to see how easy a Lions fandom could shift to supporting Buffalo.

In fact, some fans have already done so. A Detroit Lions fan popped into the Buffalo Bills subreddit on Reddit with a friendly request to join the bandwagon and was met with open arms with Bills fans sharing:

I think just about everyone in here can say we were rooting for the lions as well.

Super bummed out for you folks :( ... I was really hoping to see the Lions get to the SB for the first time this year. Just seems cruel and too oddly familiar to see your season end in the divisional round.

Keep your head up, too much talent on your team to fade out of the picture.

To answer your question, yes! We could use all the support we can get.

Of course! No one more welcome than a Lions fan! Lake erie bros!!!

The Case for Lions Fans to Cheer the Washington Commanders

There's something to be said for supporting the team that eliminated yours. Would there be some glimmer of pride should the team that knocked you out take it all the way?

Is there anything to be said for supporting a conference? Either the Commanders or Philadelphia Eagles will be the NFC representatives in the Super Bowl.

Ehh, not so much. With the Lions out of the picture, many NFL fans are now squarely behind a Washington-Buffalo match-up in the Super Bowl.
