Everyone is Talking About the Michigan Man Who Grated Whole Block of Cheese at Lions-Packers Game
The Detroit Lions continue their impressive and record setting 2024 campaign. After a Thursday Night game hosting Green Bay, the Lions have clinched a playoff spot - the first team in the NFC to do so - and set a franchise record for 11 straight wins while improving to 12-1 on the season.
While many commentators have commented on head coach Dan Campbell's continued strategy in attempting risky 4th down plays, there's one fan who garnered the rest of the attention, and that's Cheese Grater Guy who brought an actual block of cheddar to the game to grate as a mechanism for cheering on the home team.

The Green Bay Packers are, of course, from America's Dairyland of Wisconsin with fans famously known as Cheeseheads. Foam rubber cheese wedge hats are almost a prerequisite for fans who attend home games at Lambeau Field.

There have been a few enterprising fans that have taken the cheesehead hat and fashioned cheese graters to wear on their heads, but this may be a first of using actual cheese for destruction.
Some fans commenting wondered how one sneaks a block of cheese and a grater into the stadium. Many were quick to reply the security process can at time appear cursory and be more on the lookout for weapons rather than dairy products.
Another astute commentor reminds that Detroit Red Wing fans regularly bring octopi to home games at Joe Lewis Arena, so a block of cheese should raise no eyebrows.
One fan, commenting on reddit, shared that things did not end well for Cheese Grater Guy:
It was confiscated. Ran into him in the liquor line.
While the moment garnered just a passing shot of the camera on TV, radio announcers spotted the guy and had a field day with it.
There is, of course, the matter of clean up. The cheese shreds likely made quite the mess, but perhaps little less than the regular postgame clean up of popcorn, beer and who knows what else was dumped during the game by fans.
