If You Can Find It, and Respect It, You Can Stay for Free at Northern Michigan’s Club Superior
Somewhere in the rugged and remote Keweenaw Peninsula - the very tip of Michigan's Upper Peninsula - is a legendary outpost known only to locals and adventurous explorers - Club Superior. The cabin is abandoned and is used as an overnight waystation to those who are offroading or snowmobiling through the region.
The Club Superior cabin is blue on the outside and a single room with three cots, some chairs and a table. There's a stove for cooking and a stove for heat and a few provisions and tableware.

The rules for staying at Club Superior are marked on the door:

Must leave cleaner than you found it

And that's it. If you can respect it, Club Superior can be yours for the night. Not that it may be an easy night. The area is said to be filled with bears and many who have stayed have noted in a journal that's kept in the cabin for you to remark on your visit.
This video from 2011 provides one of the few available views in and around Club Superior that have been posted online.

Many visit the club after taking the Seven Hour Plane Crash trail - an offroading trail from Wisconsin through the Western Upper Peninsula that ends past Copper Harbor near Club Superior. And that's what Club Superior is all about, one last outpost proving a hint of civilization far beyond where the US 41 roadway ends deep in the Keweenaw.
This description of the cabin was written on a more recent visit than the decade-old video:
Club Superior is an abandoned cabin that's available for use as long as you can respect it. It's pretty rickety, but has a working wood stove and some protection from the elements if you need it. It's fun to check out at the very least.
A still image posted on that blog show the sleeping arrangement have expanded a bit to perhaps 4-5 cots.
Club Superior is the kind of legendary place that you have to seek out if you want it. No easy pass here, so we won't divulge any further clues about the whereabouts of this cabin.
