And with the way the league's schedules are crafted, each division plays every team from another division in both the NFC and AFC. Add to that an ever-growing number of international games, and there can be significant impacts on number of miles.

The NFL's Travel Disparity Explained

Due to those schedule realities, some teams travel much more than others each season.

For the 2025 season, the Detroit Lions are among the teams that will be travelling the least amount of miles. So, the question becomes: will a lower amount of travel and conceivably more rest lead to more success in the win-loss column?

Detroit Lions: Crunching the 2025 Travel Numbers

The math is done each season after the NFL's schedule is released. The Detroit Lions will be the 4th least travelling team in 2025 at 11,411 miles travelled. Just behind the Lions in the 10k mile club are the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills.

The least traveled team will be the Cincinnati Bengals with 8,753 miles.

Just beyond the Lions 11k miles are fellow NFC North members Chicago (12,522 miles) and Green Bay (12,929 miles). The final NFC North member, Minnesota, clocks in at 19,319 miles of travel thanks to two international games, a September 28 game in Ireland and the following week in London.

The teams facing the most travel will be the teams on the west coast with the Los Angeles Chargers set for 37,086 miles, the LA Rams at 34,832 and Seattle with 31,302.
