If you were hoping for a break in the price of gas, it won't be for awhile. Experts are saying the price is going up and will stay up through much of the summer.

Summer travel season will cost a bit more in 2018. Indications are the price of gas is about to jump 14 to 15 percent and the hang there for much of the summer.

Currently GasBuddy is listing the lowest Grand Rapids area gas prices at around 2.50 per gallon, a 15 percent spike from there would put the price at around 2.87.

GasBuddy says part of the problem is not only a rise crude oil prices, but also a drop in refinery supplies, a double whammy to the business side of gasoline, especially when demand is about to increase as it does in the summer. Fears of future trade wars also loom ominously over the picture.

Currently the most expensive gas in Grand Rapids is in the city, where the Mobil Station at Wealthy and Cherry is pumping gas at 2.79 as of Wednesday morning.
