What are the new Studio Park Apartments?

The new apartments are part of a planned expansion of the Studio Park complex in downtown Grand Rapids. A total of 165 apartments and 24 residential condos would be created with the plan.

Where will the Studio Park Apartments be built?

The planned expansion was built into the original design of the structure. Phase one of that project was completed in the Fall of 2021.

What did phase 1 of Studio Park include?

Phase 1 of the project included a 9-screen movie theater, a Canopy Hotel, 106 new residential units, over 30,000 square feet of commercial retail space, and the new headquarters of Acrisure.

What does phase 2 of the plan include?

Developers had up to ten years to implement phase 2 as part of the original agreement with the Grand Rapids Downtown Development Authority, this part of the plan includes a residential structure atop the existing parking ramp.

What will be located in the new tower at Studio Park?

According to the development support request sent to the DDA, the building will be mixed-use but primarily residential:

As proposed and envisioned in the initial Agreement the Phase 2 development will include the construction of a new 16 story tower to be located atop the existing parking structure. The tower will include a base floor with amenities including a pool, terrace, fitness, and community room. The next 11 floors will contain approximately 15 apartments each for a total of 165 new residential apartments. The remaining four floors will contain a total of 24 residential condominium units that will be sold to homeowners.

When will the new apartments in Studio Park be completed?

There is currently no timeline for the build, but the request for support for the Grand Rapids DDA is on the agenda for a meeting this Wednesday.
