There was a time when everyone on the block knew each other. Neighbors would stop by to borrow a cup of sugar. Children in the neighborhood all played together. All of the adults on the block knew everyone's name and what they did for a living. You might even ask your neighbor to feed the cat or water the plants while you were on vacation. Sadly, that has changed over the years. People might know their closest neighbor, but it is rare that you know everyone on the block.

Realtor.com recently come up with a list of the Top 10 Most Neighborly Cities in America in 2022.  To determine their rankings, they looked at 100 of the largest metropolitan areas and factored in things like:

  • charitable donations
  • neighborly acts
  • volunteering rates
  • non-profit organizations per capita
  • proximity to local parks
  • crime rates (including hate crimes)
  • happiness of local residents

The Top 5 Most Neighborly Cities in America in 2022

So how do cities across the country rank as far as being a "Neighborly City"? There were a lot of midwest and northeastern cities that made the top 10. Here is the list of the Top 10 from realtor.com...

Grand Rapids, MI made the Top 10, coming in right in the middle at #5.

As we get closer to election time and all those signs in your neighbor's yards, about half of the people surveyed said if they disagreed with their neighbor's political beliefs it would not affect their desire to be neighborly.

Get out their and introduce yourself to your neighbors. Let's get back to being neighborly and it will probably improve the neighborhood. "Won't you be my neighbor?"

You Could Be Bob Seger's Neighbor for a Cool $1 Million

Let's just imagine for a moment that you're neighbors with Bob Seger.
