Heavy Rains and Floods Leave Hundred’s Without Power
Heavy rain and high winds Tuesday night and Wednesday morning knocked down power lines and caused flooding for hundreds of residents in West Michigan.
According to WZZM, Consumers Energy Outage Map had close to 4,000 people with no power across Michigan. Muskegon County suffered most of the damage with over 2,000 homes with no power.
As always if you stumble across a downed power line you need to call 911 first then call Consumers Energy at 800.477.5050. Also make sure and take notice if that power line is touching something, if it is don't touch it or attempt to move the line but let police and Consumers know about it.
Many in Muskegon County had a tough drive into work today due to roads being flooded like Business 31. Just after midnight the road had to be closed so crews could pump the water out so the road could be re-opened.
When you are driving and find a flooded road, its best to turn around because you never know how deep that water will be and it can stall your car in the water and even some trucks if the water is high enough.
A Flood Advisory was put into effect from the National Weather Service until Noon Wednesday for the following counties: Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, Muskegon and Ottawa. When a Flood Advisory is issued it is referring to rivers and streams higher than normal and ponding of water on roadways.
