If you were wondering where winter has been since it began back on December 20, don't look now, but it's over your shoulder.

We didn't get a white Christmas, but New Year's Day promises to be plenty white after a New Year's Eve storm drops some snow on us.

The National Weather Service promises high winds, snow and cold for the next 36 hours as we prepare to drop the ball on 2019.

The good news? New Year's Day will dawn bright and sunny, although the cold will stick around for a bit.

Depending on which forecast you want to lean on, about 4-7 inches of snow will fall beginning Monday evening. The Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect until 7pm on Tuesday evening.

Travel will be challenging at times, especially with the heavy winds accompanying the snow.
