Here We Go Again, New Bill Introduced to End Daylight Saving Time
I feel like this is the new thing for politicians to get noticed, to try to get rid of Daylight Saving Time for Michigan.
This time it’s House Bill 4303, sponsored by state Rep. Michele Hoitenga, R-Manton, that’s hoping to be the winning bill that would keep the mitten state on Eastern Standard Time, year-round – that includes the part of the U.P. that is currently with the Central time zone, MLive reports.
The reason Rep Hoitenga wants to change, or quit changing our clocks, according to MLive is,
“Time change has been a nuisance to workers and students across Michigan for decades,” Hoitenga said. “The practice is antiquated and impractical and it’s time we put an end to it – pun intended.”
We’ll see what happens, this same type of bill has been introduced by both Republicans and Democrats that past few years and nothing has changed. Although MLive says that 26 states have brought up bills that say we need to examine whether Daylight Saving Time is still a thing we should be doing.
