3 Michigan Deer Hunters Dead No One Was Shot Or Fell From A Stand
Unfortunately, in some Michigan firearm deer seasons hunters lose their lives from a stray bullet, or fall from a deer stand, but this year 3 hunters died from another cause.

In some areas of Michigan during the firearm deer season, there are so many rifle hunters in the woods some schools close for opening day or two in fear of a stray bullet hitting a student at a bus stop.

"Buck Fever" is a real thing. Many hunters get very excited at the opportunity to shoot a big buck but make a bad judgment call when light conditions are not ready hear a stick break, see some movement, and shoot before they know exactly what they are shooting at. Hunters have been mistakenly killed due to buck fever.
Many hunters plop down in the woods without scouting a location first and don't know who else may be in the woods or nearby hunting. The hunter sees a deer far away and misses but the bullet continues to travel and hit a hunter on another property.
Sometimes we hear about hunters who fall to their deaths from elevated treestands. This can happen in any of the deer seasons.

3 Have Died So Far During Michigan Firearm Deer Season Who Didn't Get Shot
Not every hunter who enters the Michigan woods is a spring chicken so it's important to be healthy enough to walk to your stand, climb up in it, handle the excitement of seeing a big buck, and be healthy enough to drag out your kill. If you have any questions make sure and ask your doctor.
According to MLive, 3 hunters died during the first few days of the 2024 firearm deer season. The 3 deaths occurred within 48 hours. A 65-year-old, an 83-year-old, and a 57-year-old all died from heart attacks. Two of the hunters died while dragging out their deer carcass.
Doctors encouraged older hunters and those who are overweight to get checked out before attempting the physical activities of hunting. A lot can go wrong if you are by yourself in the middle of nowhere where it's difficult to get medical help to your location. It is important not to hunt alone and always make sure someone knows where are hunting in case you don't come back when you are supposed to and they can find you if something is wrong. If you have a cell phone take it, turn the ringer off, and make sure it is easy to get to if you need to call for help.
