Maybe you're a competitive eater or just love hot dogs, but either way the biggest hot dog eating contest in the world is Nathan's Famous Fourth International Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, Brooklyn, on July 4th, 2024.
Nathan's Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest has been running on July 4th since 1972. The contest didn't gain public attention until the mid-2000s thanks to champions Takeru Kobayashi and Joey Chestnut. Just looking at that photo makes my sphincter twitch.
The current men's champion is Joey Chestnut who scarfed down 62 hot dogs. The current women's champion is Miki Sudo who engulfed 39.5 hot dogs.
Each division has 20 participants which normally includes the past champion, winners from qualifying competitions, two wildcards, and those who receive a special invitation from event organizers.

Since 2008, contestants have had 10 minutes to slam as many hot dogs as possible. Fans show up in the thousands and look out cheeseheads because the weiner heads are taking over on the Fourth of July.

If you think you have what it takes to choke down the most hot dogs in 10 minutes. Be at LMCU Ballpark this Saturday for the West Michigan Whitecaps' Military Appreciation game to compete. The hot dog-eating competition will kick off right after the game.
Men and women are encouraged to sign up with the winner in each division will move on to the finals at Nathan's Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest at Coney Island on July 4th. If you are serious about competing you can pre-register here. You must be 18 years of age or older to enter.
