One Place in Grand Rapids Mi Will Not Allow A.I. Technology
Some might say we live in exciting times while others say it's scary when talking about Artificial intelligence. One event in Grand Rapids will not allow A.I.
What Is Artificial Intelligence?
In order to discuss Artificial Intelligence, it's important to understand exactly what it is, so if you are just joining the party, here is a brief description.
Artificial Intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence via computer systems that allow them to mimic the problem-solving and decision-making capabilities of the human mind.
We've seen A.I. for many years watching sci-fi movies but now it's a stark reality. Whether you are embracing AI or staying clear of it, this is something that will be a part of the world moving forward. This move however is not for everyone and everything.
One Event in Grand Rapids Will Never Allow A.I. To Be a Part of It
When we talk about AI simulating human behavior, there are some things it can replace and that is humans actually doing something no one has done before and the fact it actually came from a human.
ArtPrize is an international art competition that spans over 18 days in Grand Rapids, Michigan. ArtPrize showcases art all over the city in public spaces, storefronts, galleries, and local businesses. Some of the art can be massive at times and really create a spectacle for people seeking out a unique world of art with no limits.
Some artists are excited about the possibilities of AI while others scoff at the idea of a computer generating original art but because it has to be programmed to do so, many artists think this is not original art.
According to WOOD, regarding AI in ArtPrize, the executive director Catlin Whitington said, "ArtPrize is a celebration of human-made art and the amazing talent found across the globes. Our policy only permits human-made art."
Don't be surprised that in the future AI does become a part of ArtPrize but that has yet to be determined and could become a category someday. We will have to wait and see as this debate will play out in the future of art.
