Tuberculosis (TB) spreads easily through the air from one person to another. If an infected person coughs, sneezes, talks, spits, or sings the bacteria is floating in the air and another person nearby can catch from breathing.
According to the World Health Organization, TB has returned to being the world's leading cause of death from an infectious agent. Covid-19 has dethroned TB for a couple of years but it is back and spreading.

An individual at Kalamazoo Central High School Has Confirmed Case of Tuberculosis
The Kalamazoo County Government Health & Community Services Department issued a press release stating an individual at Kalamazoo Central High School has been diagnosed with active tuberculosis.
All of the Kalamazoo Public Schools have been notified about the case of TB. The individual has been isolated and undergoing treatment. The hard part is finding all the people who have come in contact with the infected person for an extended period and getting them tested.

Thank goodness the HCS will offer testing at the school at no cost for those identified as coming in contact with the person infected. TB is treatable but if untreated it can affect your lungs and other parts of the body like the brain, kidneys, or spine, and can cause death.
