Lawless Mi Hunter Caught Allegedly Deer Hunting Illegally Again

Most Michigan hunters will do anything to get a big buck but most don't break the law to bag a deer. One hunter with a history of breaking hunting laws has been caught again.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has well-established hunting rules and guidelines that hunters have been following for years. Sure there is the occasional rule change which gets updated each year but put in place so hunters can hunt safely while inadvertently controlling the deer population.

• Passed a hunter safety class
• Purchase a license
• Wear hunters orange
• Follow the rules and regulations provided here.
• Use the proper firearm for the area you hunt in.
• Hunt on state or federal lands marked for hunting.
• Have written permission from the land owner if hunting on private land.
• Attach your kill tag immediately to your deer kill with the date, gender, and number of antler points.
• Report the deer within 72 hours of harvesting online or mobile.

Lawless Michigan Hunter Caught Again Deer Hunting Illegally

It is not legal to hunt from a vehicle, not wear hunter orange during firearm deer season, trespass, not purchase tags, or not tag your kill or kills. If you have been charged as a felon you are not allowed to possess a firearm anyway. Lots of red flags here.

While most Michigan hunters follow the deer hunting rules, some continue to break the law(s). According to MLive, 59-year-old Cecil Edward Day of Johannesburg has been arrested and arraigned again for violating Michigan's deer hunting laws.

Day is currently spending the holiday in Ostsego County Jail for allegedly possessing a firearm by a felon, possessing ammunition by a felon, having a blood alcohol content over .08 %, not wearing hunter orange, illegally shooting a 9-point buck on private property, with two additional deer that were shot and left in the same area. Things are not looking good for Day.

Day has previous hunting convictions between 2018 and 2020 making him a repeat offender.
