A schoolhouse that's been a part of Ada's history for more than 150 years is getting new life as a deli and ice cream joint!

The Little Red Schoolhouse sits at 7430 River St. Built in 1859, it served as a one room schoolhouse all the way until 1964! Later it was turned into an ice cream shop, then a flower shop after that.

In 2017 it opened as the Ada Village General Store, once again serving ice cream. After shuttering in 2023, people can once again visit the location for sweet treats!

On July 1, O'Briens Schoolhouse officially opened in Ada.

The owners operate O'Briens Deli and Burgers on East Paris. According to Wood TV 8, the O'Brien name is a familiar one in Ada. Owner T.J. O’Brien’s family operated O’Briens Market and Deli on Fulton Street in Ada for more than thirty years.

At O'Briens you'll find deli offerings like sandwiches, wraps, and salads. It's a candy and ice cream shop too, with sixteen flavors of Moo-ville ice cream. You can grab a drink there too! O'briens has a full assortment of beer, wine, and liquor, and is part of Ada's social district.

The restaurant seats 22 people inside and 66 outside on the patio. There's also six picnic tables and benches outside to enjoy ice cream and candy.

While hours are not listed online yet, according to a Facebook post, the new restaurant is open Monday through Saturday 11a.. to 8p.m.
