One Michigan Beach Makes Exclusive List of 25 Best in the U.S.
Given Michigan's miles and miles of shoreline, I'd think multiple beaches should be on this list... but I'm glad at least one made the cut!
When people think of the best beaches in America, they often only think of East or West Coast states - California, Florida, Maine, the Carolinas - but we Michiganders know the wealth of gorgeous beaches lining the Great Lakes and inland lakes.

Last year, Travel and Leisure named Grand Haven State Park among the 25 best beaches in the U.S. This time around, it's a Tripadvisor ranking and a different Michigan beach is getting recognized.
TripAdvisor Ranks Michigan Beach Among 25 Best in the Country
To make Tripadvisor's "Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best Beaches" list, destinations must receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the Tripadvisor community over a 12 month period. Out of Tripadvisor's 8 million listings, they say fewer than 1% achieve this milestone.

The Michigan beach to achieve this honor was also recently named among the best beaches in the U.S. by Lonely Planet...
It's Oval Beach in Saugatuck!
Here's Tripadvisor's praise for the Allegan County beach:
It's all about fine sand and scenic views at Oval Beach. There's no bad time to visit this wonderful spot, plus there's always ample parking here. Pair it with a trip to the Saugatuck Harbor Natural Area and you're all set for a memorable day out.
Oval Beach has a 4.6 rating on Tripadvisor, with reviews describing it as "wonderful", "beautiful", and "pristine."

Of course there's plenty to check out in Saugatuck! After a day at Oval beach, have a bite at one of the many restaurants, take in the local art scene, hit up the shops downtown, visit the wineries, hike Mount Baldy, go on a dune ride, and more.
