The Most Obnoxious Summary Of Michigan You’ll Ever Hear

In high school, there was a website called SparkNotes that would give a very summarized version of a book or poem so you could get a general idea of what happened without reading the full story. It was very helpful when it's 5 minutes before class and you forgot to do your homework.

So now that I'm older, it's become very entertaining to me to hear what the "SparkNotes" version of every state is; the main points that anyone living in or visiting a state needs to know. Landmarks, people, places, etc things that make that state unique.

I recently stumbled across a TikTok that did just this for Michigan but in perhaps the most annoying way possible.

TikTok user "johnwowcool" has 443,000 followers and a whopping 16.9 million likes. John posts a variety of short, silly videos featuring a range of bird-inspired characters including Sweetiebird, Kevinbird, Bobbybird, and most important for this article, Sillybird. Each character has a strange, ridiculous voiceover to accompany the birds.

Sillybird in Michigan?

One of the series John does is about a character named Sillybird "visiting" random states around the United States and saying the things about the state he is most excited about.

According to Sillybird, the things to be excited about in Michigan are the Great Lakes (of course), seeing a black bear, eating coney dogs (which was actually a deep cut, I was impressed by this), Detroit-style pizza, and Mackinac island fudge.

Then there are the celebrities from Michigan Sillybird who want to meet like Floyd Mayweather Jr, Eminem, and Kate Upton, and activities exploring some historic lighthouses and watching a Michigan State sports event that Sillybird hopes to do.

All in all, if those are the pinnacle Michigan experiences, it could be worse.
