Attempted Murder Charges For Marine Who Stabbed An 11-Year-Old In Rockford
We're learning more about a disturbing situation that happened on Saturday in Rockford, Michigan.
A U.S. Marine stationed in Grand Rapids, Michigan, has been charged with attempted murder and other serious offenses after allegedly breaking into a home in Rockford and stabbing an 11-year-old girl multiple times.
On Saturday, June 17th, around 3 a.m., 24-year-old Marine Corporal Ricardo Perez Castillo is accused of unlawfully entering a residence on Ella Terrace Court near Rockford.
Inside, he encountered two girls sleeping and proceeded to stab one of them, an 11-year-old friend of the homeowner's daughter who was staying overnight.
The homeowner confronted Castillo and held him at gunpoint until deputies from the Kent County Sheriff's Office arrived and arrested him.
The young victim was hospitalized in stable condition after sustaining multiple stab wounds.

Castillo was arraigned on Monday, and is facing charges of assault with intent to murder, first-degree home invasion, assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct, and carrying a weapon with unlawful intent.
His bond was set at $2 million cash.
Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker described the charges as "the most serious" they have, with assault with intent to murder carrying a potential life sentence.
Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the seemingly random attack.
The Marines have confirmed that Castillo is an infantry rifleman who had been deployed overseas at least twice and received several awards, including the Naval and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
Castillo is scheduled for a probable cause conference on June 26th.
