The Children's Museum took to social media on Thursday, March 13 to thank the Grand Rapids Fire Department for arriving so quickly after a small fire started at the museum earlier in the afternoon.
According to the post, the fire was quickly contained by their sprinkler system and all patrons and staff who were inside of the museum at the time of the fire were evacuated safely.

All patrons who were in the museum at the time of the fire were given free passes to come back once the museum reopens.
Unfortunately, the museum says that their sprinkler system may have worked "a little too well", and as a result, they have a large cleanup process on their hands.

At this point, it's unclear how long the museum will have to remain closed, but it could be "several days". The museum encourages you to follow their Facebook page for additional updates.
