Sparta High School Scores Big: NBA Veteran Lindsey Hunter Named Head Basketball Coach
As a kid, I loved playing sports and always dreamed of one day making it to MLB.

I pictured myself playing 1st base for the Detroit Tigers, but my athletic ability unfortunately only took me far enough to be our varsity baseball team's manager.
But even if I did have the skills to play at the next level, you also have to have a good coach that can bring out the best in you.
A West Michigan high school recently announced that they have someone that can do just that and has an impressive record in the NBA.
Lindsey Hunter Named Sparta Varsity Basketball Coach
Lindsey Hunter spent 17 years in the NBA; 12 of those were with the Detroit Pistons, where he won one of his two NBA Championships.
After he retired from the NBA as a player, he went on to work in NBA player development with several teams and eventually was an assistant coach.
Hunter then went on to become the head coach at Mississippi Valley State University for three seasons.
Now he's taking on his next role as the Varsity Basketball coach at Sparta high school.
Hunter shared with Wood TV his love for coaching:
"Coaching is something I’m accustomed to and it’s something that I love. I love developing young kids and it’s just a process of creating a culture that they understand that, you know, you have to come in and you have to put your hardhat on every day and work hard, try to create something that you can be proud of and something that you truly are a part of."
