The Top 10 Colleges And Universities in Michigan for 2024
It's hard to believe it's already here, but November 1 is the deadline for the first round of college applications.
It's a big choice to decide where you'd like to go, considering how pricey a four-year college education can be (ranging from $27,940 to $57,570 a year for tuition, room, and board). That's why WalletHub has just dropped its 2024 Best College & University Rankings report.
Experts did a deep dive into over 800 higher-ed institutions across the U.S. They looked at important factors, like how selective they are with students, costs and financing options, and what kind of career outcomes you can expect.
They even considered things like the student-to-faculty ratio, graduation rates, and the average salary graduates make after attending. This should help seniors heading to college make the smartest choices for their future
These are Michigan's 10 Best Colleges / Universities in 2024:
1. University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
UofM Ann Arbor ranked first in admission and career placement, which are two of the most important factors when it comes to choosing where to get your degree. The only red flags with this choice are the higher crime rates on campus (23rd out of 25th) and price of your degree.
2. Kalamazoo College
If you live in Kalamazoo, The Kalamazoo Promise may make this one an easy choice to pick for your degree. But, even those outside of the city can find the value in going here. They've got the state's best student-to-faculty ratio, and a high graduation rate making them an easy choice.
3. Calvin University
If Calvin University has a degree that fits your needs, its high graduation rate and admission rate make it an easy choice when it comes to higher education in Michigan. However, they do rank poorly for on-campus crime and Gender/Racial Diversity so they may not be the perfect fit for you.
And here is the rest of the list of universities and colleges you should consider when you're dropping applications this month:
4. Hope College
5. Michigan Technological University
6. University of Detroit Mercy
7. Albion College
8. Wayne State University
9. Kettering University
10. University of Michigan-Dearborn
Always take into account what works best for YOU and what you want a degree in when you're applying to schools, but hopefully, this list helps you with that difficult decision.
