Does Michigan Need To Adopt This New Road Design To Slow Drivers?
Something that drivers thought was an April Fool's joke was as real as it gets, as one state is trying unconventional methods to slow down drivers in residential areas. It's a design that Pennsylvania is giving a shot at, and it looks something you'd see in a Dr. Suess book.
Montgomery Township has adopted new roads, which may be something Michigan should adopt in order to slow our drivers down, but the reaction that it's invoked with the residents is definitely mixed.

WNEM in PA recently wrote about this strange new design:
Drivers are zig-zagging down a road in Pennsylvania, but not to avoid a pothole. A new road designed to get drivers to slow down has created a lot of confusion for the people who live in Montgomery Township. Residents at first believed the road design was a joke. However, the design is a legitimate calming measure by police to get drivers to slow down.
There are a lot of people who don’t see how this is going to slow down traffic at all, but at least the city is trying to do something about a problem that many residents recognize the road with the new design has, when it comes to speeding.
So far, the lines appear to be making a small change, but many drivers continued to just drive straight. My suggestion would be to make the lanes tighter and maybe place those plastic reflective buoys along the lines to keep people in the lanes. At least that would ensure drivers wouldn't cut through the lines.
