
Lake St. Clair Ranks Top 10 in Bassmaster’s 2025 List

Chances are, if you've cast a line into Michigan's fresh water, you've experienced that same rush, and Bassmaster has recognized the Mitten as one of America's premier destinations for the sport.

Lake St. Clair: A 2025 Top-10 Contender
In the 2025 100 Best Bass Lakes in America, Bassmaster named Michigan's Lake St. Clair as the 10th best in the country. That's some pretty high praise from the experts, but where the state shines is in the Northeastern Division Top 25 publications, where it took over a quarter of the rankings.
Seven Michigan Lakes Dominate the Northeast
Michigan is tied with the Empire State for having the most lakes in the Northeast, with seven each (see the complete Michigan gallery below). With all that said, and all due respect to the fishing gurus at Bassmaster, while the lakes you've listed are in fact tremendous lakes for casting your line, you've still gotta know where, how, when, and what to use to get a chance at hooking a bass.

Now, whether the Bassmasters list accurately represents Michigan's best fishing is debatable. I have come across a honey hole or two in my lifetime, and I've told no one. Not a soul. I especially wouldn't go talking to the largemouths over at Bassmaster. No offense, I'm sure the editor over there isn't sharing their go-to spot with the masses either.
