A new study comparing America's state capitals has concluded that Lansing, Michigan, is among the Top 10 worst to call home.

Who Says Lansing's a Bad Capital City?
The personal finance website WalletHub recently ranked all 50 American state capitals in four dozen categories, ranging from affordability and economic well-being, to quality of life, education and health care.

Michigan's capital city scored well for affordability - 16th-best in the nation considering things such as cost of living, median household income and housing costs - but did not perform well in other areas.
Lansing's Economic Well-Being
Lansing's economic well-being ranks 14th-worst among U.S. state capitals, according to WalletHub.
The fact that the population of Lansing hasn't grown significantly over the years works against it. Other criteria included under this heading are income growth, income inequality, the unemployment rate and the share of the population living in poverty.
Lansing's Quality of Education and Health
The WalletHub study considered a wide variety of factors when determining each capital city's quality of education and health.
Things such as the quality of each city's K-12 school system were considered, along with graduation rates (both high school and college), the quality of its public hospital system, and the share of its population with health insurance, among other criteria.
When compared to the rest of America's state capitals, Lansing rates 7th worst in this area.
Lansing's Quality of Life
What's there to do in Michigan's capital city? Are there attractions, and a wide variety of restaurants and activities? What's the nightlife like?
Those are just a few of the questions that WalletHub looked at when ranking Lansing and each of the rest of America's capitals.
After crunching all the data, Lansing's quality of life rates 10th-worst among the nation's capital cities, according to the study.
