In recent years, Michigan residents have been using WD-40 for more than lubricant, rust preventive, penetrant, and moisture displacer. They've been using it to preserve their pumpkins; apparently, WD-40 is a great option for keeping your pumpkin looking healthy all season long.

Why Should You Throw Your Pumpkins Away Immediately?

If you've sprayed a light coat of WD-40 on your pumpkins, it's time to throw them out. The chemicals in the products can be harmful to pets or wildlife.

The chemicals in WD-40 can cause various health issues if ingested, including gastrointestinal upset, vomiting, diarrhea, and more severe complications in some cases.

How to Dispose Of Your Pumpkins

If you used WD-40 on your pumpkins, the best thing to do is simply throw them in the garbage. Whatever you do don't throw them into a nearby field. This will only cause problems for wildlife in the area.

If your pumpkins are chemical-free, you can always compost them. According to WBCK, local municipalities offer pumpkin recycling events after Halloween as well. Of course, it's totally fine to throw chemical-free pumpkins into a field for the critters to enjoy.
