Wait, RadioShack Still Exists? Are There Any Stores in Michigan?
People often believe that RadioShack went out of business years ago (myself included). I mean, they filed for bankruptcy a couple of times, closed thousands of stores, shifted their business model, and even tried to rebrand itself. With all those setbacks under its belt, it's no surprise people thought they went out of business years ago.
At one point, RadioShack was the go-to place for all your electronic needs, with around 5,200 stores operating. For the most part, RadioShack operates primarily online these days. However, there are roughly 500 independently owned stores still in operation.
Back in the day, RadioShack carried a wide range of products, including radios, TVs, audio equipment, computers, computer components, kits for building radios, robots, and other electronic devices, a wide selection of batteries, and more. RadioShack was known for its focus on electronics and DIY projects, catering to both hobbyists and general consumers.
Are There Any RadioShack Stores Still in Michigan?
I was surprised to learn that not only was RadioShack still in business, but that they do in fact have a few stores in Michigan.
While RadioShack's website only shows two locations still operating in Michigan including Charlevoix and Niles, Google says there are also locations in Owosso, Saline, Dundee, and Sandusky.
I don't know why, but RadioShack sounds so old school, like Blockbuster or Circuit City. Maybe it's because, like those out-of-business companies, I haven't seen a RadioShack in years.
The last time I walked into a RadioShack was to buy a beeper, if that tells you anything about how long it's been since I visited one.
