Michigan Police Officers Rescue Ducklings Trapped In Storm Drain

Police officers swear an oath to protect the community in which they serve. And that includes looking out for animals, and in this case ducks.

Genesee County Police Answer The Duck Call For Help

So, what The duck happened? After getting several calls and reports, the Genesee County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to a family in distress. But it wasn't a family of humans, it was something more fowl.

Thanks to the Good Samaritan callers, police showed up to help some ducklings that had gotten stuck in a storm drain. Luckily for the officers on scene it was a storm drain and not a sewer. Clearly the baby ducks were not attempting sewer-cide.

The officers from the Genesee County Sheriff's Office are duckin' awesome!  They were able to pull 11 ducks from the storm drain, and apparently the mother duck was truly grateful.

Yesterday (5/8/2025), the Genesee County Sheriff's Department posted on Facebook, 'This afternoon, our Genesee County Sheriff’s Office Arrowhead deputies went above and beyond—this time, for a feathered family in distress.'

They continued by saying, 'After receiving reports of ducklings trapped in a storm sewer, our team quickly responded and carefully rescued 11 tiny ducklings, safely reuniting them with their very grateful mother.'

Sure we hear about weirdos who leave junk on the streets to slow down their neighbors, and Michiganders hit by relentless scams. But stories like this really makes us appreciate the good things happening in our community.
