Michigan Crossing Guard Arrested After Having Sexual Relationship With Teen
A 23-year-old Michigan crossing guard has been arrested after police say he was caught with a 13-year-old girl in a parking lot. It happened in Monroe late last month.
Monroe police identified the suspect as Timothy Alan Warthen II, who was taken into custody on August 30 after a caller reported suspicious activity inside a vehicle near the Martin Luther King Jr. Pedestrian Bridge. That bridge crosses the River Raisin and links city parking lots with a nearby park.
Police Say Suspect Admitted to Relationship
A detective from the department’s Violent Internet Predator and Exploitation Response (VIPER) Task Force responded and questioned both Warthen and the girl. Investigators say Warthen admitted to having a sexual relationship with the teen and claimed the two were “dating.”

Warthen was arraigned in Monroe County First District Court on one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with his bond was set at $100,000.
Employment Terminated Before School Year Began
Authorities confirmed Warthen was employed part-time as a crossing guard with Ida Public Schools. However, the district said he was terminated from his position before the 2025–26 school year began on September 2, 2025.
Investigation Still Ongoing
Monroe police said in a statement:
At this point in the investigation, there is no evidence indicating that the suspect engaged in inappropriate conduct or communication with other minors. However, the investigation is still ongoing.
