Do you have turkey kielbasa in your freezer or fridge?
Tainted Meat Recall
Salm Partners, LLC, a Denmark, Wis. establishment officially announced that they are recalling roughly 133,039 pounds of ready-to-eat turkey kielbasa products.
Why?
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) says that the turkey kielbasa products
"may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically bone fragments."
These ready-to-eat turkey kielbasa items were made on October 27th, 2023, and October 30, 2023.
These products were shipped to different retail locations nationwide.
How Did They Find The Issue?
This issue was found after the firm notified the FSIS.
"it had received consumer complaints reporting that pieces of bone were found in the turkey kielbasa product. In addition, FSIS received two consumer complaints regarding this issue. There has been one reported minor oral injury associated with consumption of this product. FSIS has received no additional reports of injury or illness from consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider. "
Which Items Are Recalled?
The FSIS says that the following products are affected by the recall:
- 13-oz. plastic vacuum-sealed packages containing “PARKVIEW TURKEY POLSKA KIELBASA”, with P-32009 and “USE BY APR 24 24” or “USE BY APR 27 24” printed on the package.
If a product has an establishment number of "P-32009" printed with the use-by date on the front of the package, it is also subject to recall.
What Should You Do If You Have The Recalled Meat?
The FSIS is worried about the products still being in customer's refrigerators or freezers.
If you have purchased these meats, you are urged to not eat them and throw them away or return them immediately.
