Kevin Sikkema is a firefighter from Jenison who was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor in 2014.

Recently, the community came together to help Sikkema's family as he continues to undergo treatment by raising over $100,000 on GoFundMe to pay off his mortgage.

35-year-old Sikkema was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, which is a highly aggressive form of brain cancer, in May of 2014. The cancer has caused seizures, which have caused him to have to cut back to only working one day per week, which has put some financial strain on he and his family.

Sikkema and his wife Amy posted a video their Facebook page SikkemaStrong to thank the community:

Sikkema has been a firefighter in West Michigan for more than 13 years, working with the Georgetown and Blendon Township Fire Departments.
