‘Jim’ From ‘The Office’ Attempts Michigan Unemployment Fraud

What made John Krasinki's 'Jim' such a beloved character on NBC's 'The Office' is that he looked like the average, frustrated working stiff. Which is why he was used in an unemployment scam.

A man giving an Inkster address submitted a driver's license featuring the likeness of Krasinski as 'Jim', in an attempt to illegally obtain unemployment benefits from the state.

Luckily, an alert employee at the unemployment office, and probably a big fan of the show, caught the photo and rejected the attempt.

Jonathon Oosting, a reporter for the Bridge, posted an image of the license on his Twitter feed last week.

Needless to say, Twitter responded with a series of 'Office' clips, GIFs, and memes highlighting the attempted theft.

Because, although Jim was a prankster, he knew better than to break the law. Or did he?
