Joan Baez, Mary Chapin Carpenter and More Coming to Meijer Gardens This Summer
About this time of year, we all begin to get antsy to find out the lineup for the Meijer Gardens Summer Concert Series. And, about this time of year, the Meijer Gardens begins "trickling out" information about who's coming. So, here's your "trickle."
The Garden's are announcing three of the acts that will perform at the Fifth Third Bank Summer Concerts for this season. Featuring a mix of blues, rock, alternative and indie, part of the lineup will include Four Voices: Joan Baez, Mary Chapin Carpenter & Indigo Girls Amy Ray & Emily Saliers.
They are legendary artists and longtime friends, so Joan Baez, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers will share the stage in a special group performance as Four Voices on June 12.
Most recently, while together at Baez’s 75th birthday concert at the Beacon Theatre, they discussed the possibility of going on tour together and—one year later—the Four Voices Tour was confirmed.
On August 18, Jethro Tull by Ian Anderson, known throughout the world of rock music as the flute and voice behind the legendary Jethro Tull, will perform.
After a lengthy career, Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull have released 30 studio and live albums, selling more than 60 million copies since the band first performed at London’s famous Marquee Club in February 1968.
June 9 brings St. Paul & The Broken Bones to the gardens. St. Paul & the Broken Bones is a tight ensemble with a gospel-tinged, retro-soul garage sound complete with horns and dynamic lead singer Paul Janeway.
Members of Meijer Gardens will be able to purchase tickets during a members-only presale, April 29 through May 12. During the pre-sale, members receive a $5 discount per ticket. To join or renew before April 29, visit MeijerGardens.org/involved/membership.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public on May 13. More information on prices and purchasing locations will be available following the release of the full lineup in mid-April.
The complete summer lineup will be announced in mid-April.
The 2017 Fifth Third Bank Summer Concerts at Meijer Gardens is made possible in part by Fifth Third Bank, Harvey Lexus of Grand Rapids, Meijer, Inc. and Life EMS.
