Remember last years millage request and vote to support the Grand Rapids Public Museum and John Ball Zoo? Well, it passed with the help of loyal supporters, and now we get to reap the benefits!

The YES vote for the millage created a stable source of funding for the GRPM and the John Ball Zoo, ensuring that essential maintenance and facility repairs can take place. It will also provide quality care for the 1,600 animals and 250,000 unique artifacts at the Zoo and Museum and update and expand cutting-edge education programming and exhibits so all Kent County residents can enjoy them for years to come. But that's not all. The cost of visiting the museum just went down!.

Benefits at the Grand Rapids Public Museum include: FREE admission for Kent County children (age 17 and under), reduced admission for Kent County adults to $5, reduced admission for Kent County seniors to $3, and free parking with paid Museum admission and parking validation.

Kent County residents will need to show a government issued ID to receive these benefits.

And that's not all, again! New programs have already begun at the GRPM, including a new concert series taking place in the Museum’s Chaffee Planetarium titled Concerts Under the Stars. They have also expanded the popular Beer Explorers program to include a partnership with Founders Brewing, and additional programs coming this spring with Brewery Vivant among others.

Wait! There's more! A new Urban Garden and Summer Camp have formed through a new partnership with Urban Roots to produce a hands-on gardening experience on the grounds of the Van Andel Museum Center.

There is so much more. You should visit their website for additional information including hours of operation, admission fees and exhibit/event listings. Please visit www.grpm.org.
