Football Fans in 9 States are Convinced 2024 is the Year the Detroit Lions win the Super Bowl

The Detroit Lions have been the darlings of the NFL for the past couple of seasons. Many fans have enjoyed watching the perennially moribund franchine experience success under coach Dan Campbell and quarterback Jared Goff. The success path led the team to the NFC Championship to close the 2023 season, just one step away from the Super Bowl. Now as the league is getting ready to start play for a new season, there are fans in 9 different states that say the Detroit Lions will be the next Super Bowl champions.

The predictions are laid out in a data map shared on a Reddit forum dedicated to fans of the NFC North - Detroit, Chicago, Green Bay and Minnesota.

The map shows who the majority of fans in each state think will be the next Super Bowl champion. Not surprising, it's homer fans in Michigan that predict the Lions will finally get the crown, but also neighboring Indiana and seven states in New England and the eastern seaboard.

There are Lions predictors in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, South Carolina and Georgia.

The Lions fandom runs into a red wall at Illinois where predictions of another Chiefs win rule the county's midsection.

Ohio fans have some wishful thinking when it comes to the Cincinnati Bengals.

So may just not be home state fandom if other fanbases think your team has a shot, as this comment points out:

It's not that delusional. Michigan isn't the only state in the Lions' camp. The NE states, SC, GA, and IN all agree. I'd say of the NFC teams, it's SF and Detroit that have the best shot

So when the business of football comes back for the 2024 season, there may be more than just Michigan who will have an eye on the Detroit Lions.
