Last week we told you that Lume Cannabis Co. had closed four of its nearly 30 marijuana stores in the state.

The closed locations include:

  • Bay City
  • Christmas
  • Cheboygan
  • Southfield

MLive reports that according to a one-time employee, their location closed due to lack of revenue.

Despite the closures, Lume Cannabis Co. is continuing to expand.

The marijuana retail giant just opened a store in Ann Arbor, and on Saturday, July 16, a location at 4162 Eastern Ave. SE in Grand Rapids.

According to Grand Rapids Business Journal, Lume Grand Rapids is offering a 20 percent discount on products throughout the store for the next two weeks.

Lume GR offers in-store shopping, and online ordering for in-store, curbside pickup or delivery.

The new store is open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday and 11 a.m.to 9 p.m.

Kevin Kuethe, Lume’s Chief Cultivation Officer, told WXYZ in January that the company aims to have 100 retail stores open by the end of 2024.

Since then marijuana prices have continued to fall and demand remains high.

According to Bridgemi.com May and June 2022 saw record high weed sales in Michigan:

The total amount of cannabis products sold between the state’s recreational and medical dispensaries has tripled in the past two years, with the top two pot sales months in Michigan history being the past two months [June and May, 2022]. There are nearly a thousand shops across the state where you can buy legal, regulated marijuana now, with the number of approved licenses for growers and dispensaries increasing almost weekly.

All that competition is driving down prices.
