The flags are 3'x5' and are made of nylon. There is a certificate issued with the flag that certifies the flag was flown over the Michigan State Capitol. You may request a flag that was flown on a specific date, but it is based on availability and cannot be guaranteed.

The turnaround time is quick. The state estimates that one should receive a flag just 10 days after order.

The sale of flags over the Michigan Capitol is likely modeled after a better-known national Capitol Flag program. Dating back to 1937, the Architect of the Capitol makes available flags that have flown over the US Capitol in Washington. Requests for those flags are facilitated via one's member of congress.

Flags flown over the state capitol are 'Made in the USA' after a 2011 law mandated such. However, as MLive pointed out in coverage of the bill, nothing was changed as result of the legislation as the state was already purchasing flags from a domestic manufacturer.
