Are There Some Roads in Michigan That Are Just Too Intimidating to Drive?

Travelling through Michigan you encounter a few different style of roads. Some are quiet country backroads and some are intensely dense traffic-socked urban freeways in cities like Detroit and Grand Rapids. So do you find there are highways in Michigan that you have a fear of driving?

The question came up recently for a driver in Indianapolis who was fearful of travelling that city's beltway, Interstate 465. They asked on Reddit how to get over the fear of that roadway.

i have never driven on highways and 465 is looming over me like a ... monster right now. i am terrified. do you have any tips for driving on that beast?

If you've even been on 465, perhaps you can relate. Indiana has set that roadway up as a collector to route nearly all traffic that is passing through Indy onto that circle rather than through the city's downtown.

Are there highways in Michigan that give you the same feeling of dread? Perhaps it's I-94 where business picks up near Ann Arbor and western Wayne County. Or I-696 though Detroit's northern suburbs or I-75 in Oakland County. US 131 in downtown Grand Rapids is likely the most intense drive outside of Metro Detroit.

Perhaps it's not an urban setting but rather you find yourself white-knuckled at the prospect of driving the Mackinac Bridge.
