The Mackinac Bridge that connects the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of Michigan is perhaps the state's most iconic landmark. It adorns a state license plate and is the subject of photos of just about every tourist who passes over it.

But are you a Michigander who has no care to ever visit the bridge?

👇🏼BELOW: The Only Destination For These Highways are Michigan State Parks👇🏼

If that's the case, then you also, almost by default, have no interest in visiting the Michigan peninsula you're not from.

The concept came up thanks to some comments on social media to a recent article we published giving advice on what to do should the bridge close for inclement weather and you are stuck on the opposite end of the bridge from your destination.

Of course trolls are gonna troll online, but these comments came as a bit of a surprise:

never crossed the bridge lived here 20some years

never been there no interest

Mackinac Bridge Lore:

A fear of crossing the bridge is certainly understandable, many have that. But a willfulness against visiting the bridge seems odd. Scenery aside, unless you're taking a long-way-around trip through Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana (or even more unlikely through Canada) avoiding the bridge means avoiding the state's other peninsula.

It seems like that's something for which your Michigander Card should be revoked.

The Only Destination For These Highways are Michigan State Parks

There are several highways in Michigan's road network that exist only to connect to state parks.

Michigan License Plate Prototypes That Were Never Created

These Michigan license plate prototypes never made it to the back of any vehicles as an official design. However they were recently discovered as part of a Secretary of State worker's estate and drawn immediate interest from collectors.
