Michigan Nurse Sings At COVID Memorial Event [Video]
A nurse who went viral for singing “Amazing Grace” at work sang the song Tuesday to honor those who passed from COVID-19.
The Joe Biden Inaugural Committee’s national memorial event Tuesday night was highlighted by Lori Marie Key’s moving rendition of the song.
Before performing in front of the Lincoln Memorial, Key, who works in Livonia, shared "Working as a COVID nurse was heartbreaking. It was heartbreaking for the patients who are sick, it was heartbreaking for the families who couldn't be there with them and it was heartbreaking for those caring for them."
She added "But when I'm at work, I sing. It gives me strength during difficult times and I believe it helps heal."
When contacted by the Biden administration, Key was at first hesitant to perform, not having sung much publicly, but when she considered the magnitude of the event she was on board.
She told The Detroit News that she thought it was a "great opportunity in history."
Lori became famous online for singing at shift change at St. Joseph Hospital near Detroit.
